Nicole Eggert Shares the ‘Hardest’ Part of Her Breast Cancer Diagnosis (Exclusive)

Nicole Eggert talks about the most difficult moment in her breast cancer journey.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the After Baywatch: Moment in The Sun premiering in Los Angeles on Monday, August 26, Eggert, 52 — who was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in December 2023 — revealed that waiting for the next steps in her treatment was the “hardest part” for her.

“I’m feeling good,” the actress tells PEOPLE about how she’s doing on her journey. “I’m kind of in a gray area and I’ve finished my treatment, waiting for more imaging and hopefully maybe surgery.”

“And there’s a lot of waiting in this and it’s something I didn’t really realize and no one really talks about,” she adds. “But the gray area is the hardest because you don’t know what’s going on and you’re just, if I do the treatment, I feel like I’m doing something productive.”

Eggert, who produces the ABC News Studios docuseries, continued: “So it felt positive and I thought, OK, I’m doing something positive. And now that it’s just nothing, it’s like, well, wait a minute. We’ve got to get this out. So it’s just frustrating.”

“Having a young daughter and having this project has been a great motivation for me to not just sit there and think about my health and well-being. It’s been a great distraction and my daughters have kept me on my toes.”
