Samuel’s absence is an obstacle in itself to overcome, and running back Christian McCaffrey is already on the injured list with injuries to his calf and Achilles tendon.

Through two games this year, Samuel has 13 receptions for 164 yards, both team highs, along with 10 carries for 13 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Samuel has been plagued by injuries before, having never played a full regular season since being selected by San Francisco in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

The 49ers face a Los Angeles Rams team this week that is also dealing with a plethora of injuries. For the NFC West game, L.A. will be without wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, while the Niners will be without CMC and now Samuel.
