HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) – Some spots in Eastern Kentucky woke up to some much-needed rain this morning. We’re keeping a slight chance of rain in the forecast as we head into the early to mid-evening before the chance of rain leaves the WYMT Viewing Area.

DISCUSSION:

WOW! What a week of weather. Not so much here, but across the eastern half of the US as a whole. Francine developed into a tropical storm, made landfall as a CAT 2 hurricane, and then quickly regressed back to a tropical depression. As we have been discussing over the last few days, we need to keep a close eye on Francine, as the slightest change in its track can have a major impact on our weather.

The weather forecast for this weekend is exactly why we kept giving that warning. A few days ago we were talking about the chance of rain. Some places in the West could get a few inches of rain, and there could be rain during the Kentucky-Georgia game.

48 hours later we know where Francine is (still a low pressure area). Our forecast has changed considerably.

Maybe a shower or two tonight, otherwise it will be fairly quiet with partly cloudy skies. As we head into your Saturday, it will remain mostly sunny with temperatures returning to the mid 80s. We can take Saturday, press CTRL+C and CTRL+V and you will have Sunday and Monday as well.

The next chance for any form of rain appears to be Tuesday afternoon and evening.

KENTUCKY VS. GEORGIA PREDICTION

We know what’s on your mind: what does the Kentucky vs. Georgia prediction look like?

Short answer: not bad.

We get plenty of sunshine as the game kicks off and it stays mostly clear until the evening, with temperatures dropping to around 25 degrees Celsius by the time the game is over and we can celebrate the Cats’ victory.
