November’s international break threatens to hamper return to form for superstar Inter Milan and Argentina

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez was far from his talismanic form at the start of the 2024/25 Serie A season.

According to Tuttosport, FCInterNews reports, El Toro is at risk of maintaining his ‘poor’ form until mid-December.

With November’s international breakthrough looming, Martinez’s hopes of overcoming a torrid star face another obstacle.

Indeed, that’s the last thing the 27-year-old needs as he attempts to return to form.

Martinez drew zero on Sunday as Inter and Juventus shared the win in a remarkable 4-4 draw.

Worryingly, it was his sixth winless Serie A appearance in eight this season, testament to his disappointing fall from grace.

The ex-Racing Club’s form at the start of Inter’s Scudetto defense is a far cry from his excellent performances last season.

He scored 24 league goals on his way to winning his first Capocannoniere award.

Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez’s form threatened by international break in November

After finishing seventh in the Ballon d’Or race, Martinez returns to his club duties on Wednesday.

Indeed, Inter head to Stadio Carlo Castellani to take on perennial warriors Empoli in a must-win match.

That could be a presentable opportunity for the Argentine centre-forward to regain confidence.

However, there is a chance he could move to the bench.

Simone Inzaghi is reportedly considering working with Mehdi Taremi and Marcus Thuram in Tuscany.

Leaving his captain on the bench could be counterproductive as Martinez hopes to return to form.

But Inter will play three more games before the next international break.

In addition to the Serie A matches against Venezia and Napoli, they will take on Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.

That match could be Martinez’s chance to shine after failing to score in two of his first three continental appearances.
