ForbesNYT ‘Connections’ Hints and Answers for October 22 (#499)

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means: it’s time for another round Connections!

It’s actually a bit of a special occasion, considering this is the 500th game Connections (not counting the Sports edition). I wonder if there will be anything interesting about the grid…

The last time I’ll mention this for now, but I’m planning on starting a discussion group (probably on Discord) for Connections and this column if enough of you are interested. If so, please let me know via email, direct message on Twitter, or in the comments below. Thanks to those of you who have already been in touch! I will call you back as soon as possible.

Today NYT Connections hints and answers for wednesday october 23 are coming soon.

Play connections

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. Every day you get a new puzzle at midnight. You can play on the NYT website or Games app.

You will be shown a grid of 16 words. Your job is to divide them into four groups of four by discovering the connections between them. The groups can be things like clickable items, names for study participants, or words preceded by a body part.

There is only one solution to each puzzle, and you have to be careful when it comes to words that fit into more than one category. You can play the words in any order so you might see the connections between them.

Each group has a color code. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often uses puns.

Select four words that you think go together and press Send. If you make a guess and you’re wrong, you lose a life. When you’re close to the right group, you might see a message saying you’re just one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let’s make sure this doesn’t happen with some tips and, if you’re really struggling, today’s information Connections answers. As with Word and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

I had a strong suspicion that there would be something funky going on with today’s game, being the 500th edition and all. I was a little disappointed when I first saw the grid, but a wry smile crossed my face when I realized what was going on – even though it meant I was going to have a hard time coming up with hints.

Neither the sky nor the blueberries are technically blue. So I’m glad I found a way to make the purple clue a little tricky. (I spent more time than necessary making sure gold was actually yellow.)

I checked everything out before submitting groups. As such, I managed to get what I call a truly perfect game: getting the purple, blue, green, and yellow colors in that order, with no mistakes. I don’t remember ever doing that before, so I was pretty pleased.

There are a few red herrings that almost tripped me up. The green jacket and blue beret almost got me. But by writing down my guess for each group, I don’t use Google while playing Connectionsbut I allow myself a notebook – I could see how everything fit together.

That’s all it takes for today Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check out my blog for tips and the solution for Thursday’s game if you need it.

PS I’m leaving the horror theme for today so I can slide this song in. An absolute classic:
