The official sales points are Ticketmaster, Gigsandtours and SeeTickets.

If someone buys a ticket but then wants to resell it, they can only get a refund for the amount paid – i.e. the face value plus booking fee – and can only do this via Twickets or Ticketmaster’s Fan-to-Fan service. The terms and conditions state that reselling a ticket via another platform is a breach of the terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of the ticket.

This is partly an attempt to prevent tickets from being offered on other secondary ticket websites, often at vastly inflated prices – although this will still happen.

On Friday night the band warned against reselling tickets after some tickets went on sale for thousands of pounds within minutes of the pre-sale.

Another thing that is likely to happen is scammers taking advantage of the high demand. Consumer group Which? says, external: “If you buy tickets from strangers on social media, you could be at risk of being scammed. You should especially beware of newly created profiles that do not follow anyone or have no followers.”

Which? also advises against paying people by bank transfer, which is often the preferred method of fraudsters. “If you do choose to buy tickets from an individual seller, try to pay by credit card so that you are protected by Section 75. Alternatively, PayPal has its own Buyer Protection scheme.”
