Ohio State football heads into halftime with a healthy 28-14 lead. After a particularly disturbing opening drive by the Marshall Thundering Herd that marched down the field for a touchdown, the Buckeye offense exploded just like it did against the Western Michigan Broncos. Once OSU got on the scoreboard, that was the end for Marshall and the Buicks could be on their way to beating City. Let’s take a look at five of the most notable observations from the first half.

Chip Kelly unloads the goods

Chip Kelly is an offensive genius and we are slowly seeing crumbs of what he has in store for this Ohio State offense. Kelly is clearly holding something back from some of the bigger opponents, but what we do get to see is extremely fun.

How fast can this attack move?

This point and the last point belong together, but the pace of this offense deserves its own slide. Kelly is clearly using Marshall as a test run to see how fast this offense can move and how quickly he can get a playoff spot.

Quinshon Judkins is an elite player

Quinshon Judkins didn’t have the most electric debut in Ohio Stadium, but the guy has found his groove and is a real threat. Judkins is currently Ohio State’s leading rusher with four carries for 114 yards and a touchdown.

Special teams are tough

The above tweet sums up Ohio State’s day on special teams. Not one, not two, but three kickoffs have been blown out of bounds. A punt was also fouled by Brandon Inniss, but was called back due to an illegal formation by Marshall. This situation needs to be addressed.

Marshall rolls over

As I type this, Marshall scored just before halftime, but it has to be said that the Thundering Herd is ready to go home. As good as Ohio State looks, take this game with a grain of salt, as the Buckeyes have not yet entered the dangerous portion of their schedule.
