Sean O’Malley returns to the Octagon to defend his bantamweight championship against Merab Dvalishvili.

O’Malley has won six of his last seven fights, with the other being ruled a no-contest after an accidental eye poke. Dvalishvili earned a title shot after winning 10 straight fights, nine of them by unanimous decision.

Valentina Shevchenko will face female flyweight champion Alexa Grasso in the co-main event. It will be the third fight between the two fighters.

Shevchenko lost the title to Grasso in the first fight via submission at UFC 285 in March 2023. The second fight between Grasso and Shevchenko ended in a split decision draw.

Main Event: What time can I register for the fight between O’Malley and Dvalishvili?

The main event is taking place now.

Grasso and Shevchenko will fight for the third time with the women’s flyweight championship on the line, with the match expected to begin shortly.

Shevchenko and Grasso traded punches for a portion of the round before Shevchenko took Grasso to the ground and slowed the pace of the fight. Grasso briefly attempted submissions while working from the bottom, but Shevchenko was able to escape.

In the second round, the fighters were back on the ground after just the first minute.

Shevchenko defeats Grasso via Unanimous Decision to become champion again.

WWE superstars Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik Mysterio were spotted in the crowd.

First round: Lopes landed a series of punches before taking Ortega to the ground. Ortega continued to take the blows, but suffered a cut above his left eye. After what felt like minutes, Ortega managed to get back up. With two minutes left in the first round, Lopes was credited with landing 21 big punches to Ortega’s four.

Second round: Ortega also suffered a lump on his left leg after taking several hits to the leg from Lopes, who landed 10 of his 12 punches in the first round and a half. At one point in the second round, his leg gave way after taking a single hit to the leg.

Third round: Lopes landed a hard left-handed punch to knock Ortega down in the closing seconds of the third round. Lopes was declared the winner of the featherweight bout by unanimous decision.

Esteban Ribovics landed a hard right-handed jab before unleashing a fury of punches to stun Zellhuber in the third round. Zellhuber was able to withstand the onslaught and stay in the fight. Ultimately, Ribovics won the bout by a split decision.

Rodriguez defeated Osbourne by unanimous decision. Rodriguez recovered from a knockout and near-surrender at the hands of Osbourne.

Jon Jones will face Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 309 on November 16 at Madison Square Garden.

Both Dumont and Aldana have continued to trade blows. As a result, Aldana has a crimson mask on her face from a cut on her forehead. Dumont wins by unanimous decision.

Bahamondes knocks out Torres with a right hand to the jaw in the first round (4:02).

Souza used a left hook to spook Jauregui before using a rear naked chokehold to put her to sleep in the first round (3:02). It was her second submission win.

Josh Van defeated Edgar Chairez and was declared the winner by unanimous decision. Van had an impressive second round after hitting Chairez multiple times in the body and head, appearing to hurt and upset him.

The referee let the fight continue and Chairez delivered a spinning back fight to create some distance from Van before taking him to the ground with a guillotine choke. Van had accepted the fight on short notice.

Rosas was unanimously declared the winner. He has now won three fights in a row and is the first fighter to win at the Sphere.

Action Sports Network: Merab Dvalishvili wins over Sean O’Malley

Sean Zerillo writes: “I predicted the fight to go inside the distance 54% of the time (-117 implied odds) compared to consensus odds closer to -115. O’Malley is a threat to close the show at any point during the fight. However, I think Merab’s chances of finishing – either via injury (with O’Malley’s historic ankle/foot issue) or cardio-based stoppage in the championship rounds – are underrated.”

MMAmania: Merab Dvalishvili defeated Sean O’Malley

Jesse Holland writes: “The challenger has the conditioning to spam takedowns for all five rounds and I’m not sure O’Malley — who was taken down six times by Petr Yan at UFC 280 — has the defense to stop him. I just don’t feel comfortable picking the champion based on the slim chance he can land the kill shot before he goes double-legged into oblivion.”

MMAjunkie: Merab Dvalishvili Defeats Sean O’Malley By Decision

Dan Tom writes: “I feel like my initial preference for a knockout of O’Malley is the right choice, but I also believe Davlishvili could be one of the most difficult stylistic matchups for the champion outside of Umar Nurmagomedov. For that reason, I will begrudgingly go with the arguably more durable fighter in Davlishvili to ride out the early storm and pull away in the final stretch (potentially earning a late finish if O’Malley’s body doesn’t hold up).”
