On3 advises on the acquisition of DJ Uiagalelei by FSU

It’s no secret that the 2024 college football season hasn’t gone according to plan for Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles. Starting the season 1-5 and 1-4 in conference play was something no one saw coming, leaving all Seminoles fans dissatisfied.

A big part of the problem was the terrible offensive play, something that many fans blamed on quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. It seems like On3’s Jesse Simonton would agree in his article on whether teams have gotten the transfer quarterback carousel right.

For Florida State, Simonton was blunt and replied: “Hell no.” He expands on his answer by saying, “The DJ Uiagalelei experiment is mercifully over. He missed the game against Clemson with a finger injury, but was essentially benched after a disastrous first five games with the ‘Noles (1-4 record, 53.8% completion with four touchdowns and six picks).”

While this wasn’t the start anyone expected from the transfer to Oregon State, the blame can’t be placed entirely on Uiagalelei. The run game for the Seminoles ranks near the bottom in all of college football, which generally leads to a lack of offense.

DJU’s status is unknown as Norvell isn’t sure if we’ll see him in a Seminoles uniform again this season. While some fans are probably okay with that, you can bet that Uiagalelei wants another chance to redeem himself.

The Seminoles will have their next ACC test this weekend, while Florida State will be on the road to take on the Duke Blue Devils. The competition will take place on Friday, October 18th starting at 7:00 PM ET. The game will appear on ESPN2.
