Lincoln police found two men with gunshot wounds after they were called to the area of ​​11th and P streets around 1:30 a.m. for a report of a fight.

The 24-year-old man was taken to a Lincoln hospital, where he died of his injuries around 5:30 a.m., police said in a news release. Police said they are not releasing his name pending notification of his family.

The other victim’s life is not in danger.

If police rule the 24-year-old man’s death a homicide, it would be the seventh such incident in Lincoln this year.

In another incident, Lincoln police responded to a report of a shooting at two convenience stores near the east campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln late Saturday night.

Police were called to the area of ​​33rd and Holdrege Streets for reports of a shooting around 11 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a 20-year-old woman with gunshot wounds. She was taken to a local hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

An employee at the Casey’s grocery store on the southwest corner of 33rd and Holdrege streets told a Journal Star reporter that he saw a person wearing a hoodie and ski mask get out of a car at the intersection and fire a gun into the Kwik Shop grocery store across the street.

Video footage obtained by the Journal Star also shows a person shooting at a car near the Kwik Shop from the parking lot of Casey’s just before 10:55 p.m.

A Casey’s employee said he saw the shooter fleeing on foot west of Casey’s.

Just after 11:30 p.m., UNL sent out a warning message about a dangerous person in the area, armed with a gun. UNL later posted a message that the person was no longer in the area.

Police cordoned off Casey’s parking lot with crime scene tape and set up several cones to mark casings.

LPD said in a press release that it is actively searching for a suspect in the shooting case.

Earlier Saturday, officers responded to another shooting in the area of ​​20th Street and Cornhusker Highway. The caller told officers that 51-year-old David Blackburn of Lincoln had fired multiple shots into the building after the two got into a verbal altercation.

Officers found a bullet hole in a vehicle and six bullet holes in an exterior wall of the building.

Officers located Blackburn at a nearby hotel and found him in possession of the weapon allegedly used in the shooting. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree assault, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, discharging a weapon near a vehicle or building, and terroristic threats and taken to the Lancaster County Jail.

Police do not believe the shootings are related, and the shootings at 11th and P and 33rd and Holdrege are under investigation. LPD said it wants information from the public, including video footage, about those two incidents.
