One person dead after bus crash near 27th and Howard Ave

Greenfield police are responding to a crash at 27th and Howard Avenue.

27th Street/WIS241 is closed in both directions while officers investigate. They expect all lanes to be open again around 11 a.m

TMJ4 has a crew on scene to learn more about what led to the wreck. Mary Jo Ola confirms a school bus was involved and turned on its side. There were no children on board.

According to Lamers, owner of the school bus, the driver had just finished the morning routes when a driver heading east on Howard ran a red light and struck the bus, causing it to spin. This led to a pile-up with four other cars. The school bus driver is doing well but was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Three passengers from other vehicles were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s office was called to the scene for one deceased person. Greenfield police say the victim is a 26-year-old from Milwaukee.
