The mystery actress was sent home during the October 23 Barbie-themed episode of the Fox singing competition series. But before the unknown celebrity was eliminated, she teased her true identity to the audience and her special bond with the iconic toy doll.

“As a child, I was a rich target for others to tease,” Chess Piece said in a video package. “It seemed like every part of me was something others could poke at. And besides, I loved Barbie. But the part that hurt was not letting me play with her.”

The star added: “The criticism and criticism continued over the years and made me question everything I love about myself.”

“So I had to take control of my own board and the one thing that helped me heal was the one thing I was missing all the time: Barbie,” she said. “I started buying them for myself and realized that it’s never too late to have a happy childhood, even decades later.
