Game Notes

• Oregon State makes its first road trip of the 2024 season on Saturday when it visits San Diego State. Kickoff at Snapdragon Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT.
• The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Rich Waltz (play-by-play), Robert Turbin (analyst) and Amanda Guerra (sideline) will report on the action.

• Oregon State makes its first trip to San Diego since 2013.

1 – First victory for Trent Bray as head coach in the 38-15 victory over Idaho State.

315 – Rushing yards combined by Jam-Griffin And Anthony Hankerson in the opener against Idaho State. Both surpassed the 100-yard mark for the first time in their respective careers.

Against San Diego State
• Oregon State is playing San Diego State for the seventh time and has a 4-2 series lead.
• The Beavers have won four straight games, all since 2000, three of them in Corvallis. The lone victory in San Diego was a 34-30 win in 2013. Sean Mannion threw for 367 yards in that win, the 27th-most in OSU’s record books.
• Brandin Cooks caught 14 of Mannion’s pass attempts in that game, tying Mike Hass (2004 vs. Arizona State) for the OSU single-game record. Isaiah Hodgins later tied Cooks and Hass with 14 against Nevada in 2018.
• SDSU defensive line coach David Lose was a quality control assistant with the Beavers for three seasons and went to the Los Angeles Bowl with OSU in 2021.

Idaho State’s Win Recap
• Oregon State won its fourth straight home opener in the 38-15 victory. The Beavers won their home opener in 2021 (against Hawai’i), 2022 (against Boise State) and 2023 (against UC Davis).
• The Beavers also won their third straight season opener, following 2022 against Boise State and 2023 against San Jose State.
• OSU limited Idaho State to just one play of 20 or more yards.
• The Beavers held the ball 37:29, which was the fifth-best total in the country after the first full weekend of action.
• OSU had 24 first downs by rush in the win, tying the Beavers with SMU for the most first downs on the ground this season. The Mustangs, however, have had 24 in two games.
• Oregon State averaged 53 yards per drive, which would have been its best showing in 2023, with 48 yards against Stanford.
Jack Kane intercepted his first career pass in the fourth quarter.
Trent Walkermaking his first career start, nearly matched his career output in receptions, totaling four for 32 yards after starting the year with five catches for 66 yards.
• Pro Football Focus gave the Beavers an 82.9 run blocking grade, the ninth-highest in the nation.

That’s it
• Oregon State and Georgia were the only two teams in the country to have a top 15 pick in both the 2024 MLB and NFL Draft.
• Oregon State’s Travis Bazzana became the Beavers’ second-ever No. 1 selection, while offensive lineman Taliese-Fire was the 14th pick by the New Orleans Saints.
• The Beavers, meanwhile, were the only team in the country to be selected in the first round of the MLB, NFL and MLS Drafts, as men’s soccer team member Logan Farrington was selected third overall.



Griffin & Hankerson collaborate
Jam-Griffin And Anthony Hankerson combined for 315 yards and four touchdowns in the win over the Bengals.
• Griffin had 160 yards rushing, passing the 100th mark for the first time in his career. He now has 648 yards rushing as a Beaver after totaling 488 yards in 2022.
Anthony HankersonIn his first game as a Beaver after transferring from Colorado, he rushed for 155 yards. He also eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the first time in his career.
• Griffin’s 160 yards ranks ninth nationally after the first full weekend of action, while Hankerson’s 155 yards put him 12th.

That’s #20
Jam-Griffin And Anthony Hankerson became the 20th duo to eclipse 100 yards rushing in the same game and the first since B.J. Baylor and Deshaun Fenwick in 2021 in Washington state.
• Griffin and Hankerson are the first duo to top 150 since Don Shanklin (159) and JJ Young (157) in 1994 at UCLA. That’s actually happened only three times in Oregon State history.

Speaking of the run game
• Oregon State’s 362 rushing yards Saturday marked the team’s most since the Beavers ran for 360 against Southern Utah in the second game of the year in 2018. OSU has now gone over 350 four times since 1996, following 640 against Northern Illinois in ’96, 474 against California in 2016 and 360 against Southern Utah in 2018.
• Last Saturday’s 362 rushing yards were the fourth-most of the weekend, trailing only UCF (454), Army (375) and Boise State (371).
• OSU averaged 6.2 yards against the Bengals. The 362 yards came on 58 carries, the most by a Beaver team since 1996.
• The Beavers finished with 20 or more rushing first downs for just the third time since 1996. The other two? Twenty-six against NIU in 1996 and 20 against Oregon in 2016, both OSU wins.
