LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A pedestrian was killed in a crash in eastern Nebraska early Tuesday morning, the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around 5 a.m., officers received a report of a pedestrian wearing dark-colored clothing walking on Highway 2 near Nebraska City.

Before emergency responders arrived, the pedestrian – later identified as 18-year-old Harrell Jackson Jr. from Omaha – hit by a vehicle.

First responders attempted to save Jackson’s life, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said Jackson was walking in the roadway on the Highway 2 ramp when he was struck by a vehicle.

An investigation is underway.
