    STATE COLLEGE — You can breathe now, Penn State fans. The Nittany Lions survived a surprising upset on Saturday, beating Bowling Green 34-27 at Beaver Stadium.

    Penn State was a 35-point favorite in its home opener, a game the school paid Bowling Green $1.5 million to play in. But the No. 8 Nittany Lions improved to 2-0.
