Tyler Warren snapped the football and caught a TD pass against USC. About the same play.

The Penn State tight end made a huge TD catch in the third quarter of the No. 4 Nittany Lions’ 33-30 win over the Trojans after moving to the end of the line to play center during a trick play.

Warren moved out of the backfield to get the ball as the entire offensive line shifted to the right. There is no rule that requires the player snapping the ball to be in the middle of the offensive line, and Warren qualified as a receiver. After the snap, he came onto the field as Penn State completed a double pass and he made a spectacular grab in traffic.

Warren was all over the field for the Nittany Lions. Literal. Just look where he lined up midway through the third quarter.

After his touchdown, Warren also helped set up Penn State’s late tying goal. He got wide open on a 34-yard completion from Drew Allar to the USC 19-yard line. Three plays later, Kaytron Allen tied the game at 20-20 after USC built a 20-6 lead at halftime.

Warren finished the game with 17 catches for 244 yards. His number of catches ties the record for most in a single game by a tight end.
