PFB picks: Predictions for Oklahoma State’s Week 11 game at TCU

The Cowboys head to Fort Worth with about as much on the line as they have had all season.

Oklahoma State will take on TCU in the penultimate road game of the season on Saturday at 6 p.m. Winning keeps the Pokes alive in an attempt to extend the bowl streak to 19 years. Lose, and they won’t. On the other hand, the 5-4 Horned Frogs would secure a bowl after missing one last season.

The PFB staff gathered to pontificate about the Cowboys’ must-win and here’s how we see things playing out.

Score: TCU 31, Oklahoma State 28

OSU MVP: Brennan Presley

Thoughts: This game is better from a matchup standpoint than OSU has had in a while. Sure, based on the data, the Horned Frogs are a better team, but TCU ranks 101st nationally in rush defense (an area where the OSU offense struggles). And the Horned Frogs prefer to throw the ball, with the fifth-best passing game in the country compared to the 123rd-best rushing offense (an area the OSU defense has struggled to stop). That said, it’s hard for me to pick the Pokes since I’ve seen them lose six in a row, but I think they’ll at least cover it.

Kyle Cox

Score: TCU 31, State of Oklahoma 28

OSU MVP: Ollie Gordon

Uniform: White (italic)-white-black

Thoughts: OSU’s rushing performance has been variably disappointing all season, but TCU’s defense ranks 15th in the league against the run and third against the pass. In a somewhat optimistic sense, that could work out for the Cowboys. Still, OSU hasn’t shown the ability to win in the Big 12 and TCU was a walk-off field goal away from snapping a three-game win streak. I have to fight the Pokes until they prove me wrong.

Dekota Gregory

Score: TCU 34, Oklahoma State 21

O.S.U MVP: Brennan Presley

Uniform: Black (brand)-white (orange)-orange

Thoughts: This is the best chance the Cowboys have left to get a Big 12 win. A loss would erase any chances of OSU extending its bowl streak. A loss would also guarantee a losing record for the Cowboys. All of that plays in OSU’s favor and the stakes are high. But this team can’t win another football game with this defense, even if the life of its bowl streak depended on it. The Horned Frogs haven’t touched the ball all season, so expect them to have their best day of the season. The only silver lining that remains is the hope that OSU falls far enough behind that Brennan feeds Presley and breaks a record.
