PG&E plans to cut power to thousands of people in the North Bay during critical fire weather

More than 4,000 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers. Sonoma and Napa counties are at risk of having their power knocked out as soon as Thursday evening due to critical fire conditions, more than double the number of local shutoffs originally planned, according to the utility. latest update.

On Thursday morning, PG&E announced that shutoffs were “required” in some areas and expanded the number of customers who could be without power sometime between Thursday and Saturday.

The utility company may turn off power on Thursday starting at 4 p.m.

Areas affected include eastern Sonoma County, with some spots just east of Rohnert Park; Santa Rosa; Klaverdale; and Sonoma.

In Napa County, almost every part of the area outside the valleys and east of Lake Berryessa is potential areas for closure.

More than 20,000 customers in 24 provinces could temporarily lose their power in the coming days.

Locally, the following number have been affected:

  • Sonoma County: 1,010 customers, 23 Medical Baseline customers
  • Napa County: 3,103 customers, 135 Medical Baseline customers
  • Lake County: 1,088 customers, 83 Medical Baseline customers
  • Mendocino County: 13 customers, 4 Medical Baseline customers

Those whose power is turned off can visit one of four information centers set up in Sonoma and Napa counties. They are all open on Thursday from 12:00 to 22:00.

  • Healdsburg Community Church – 1100 University St., Healdsburg
  • Pacific Union College – 35 La Jota Drive, Angwin
  • Calistoga Community Center – 1307 Washington St., Calistoga
