The Northern Lights put on a vibrant show over New England on Thursday evening.

The dancing pinks and greens — visible to many even in light-polluted areas like Boston — were caused by a solar flare that erupted earlier this week. The sun has reached a period in its eleven-year cycle when it is most active, making the Northern Lights more visible over New England lately. (Here’s more about the science of auroras.)

If you missed the screening or want to relive the magic, you may still have a chance. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center shows there is a chance the aurora will be visible again in New England Friday and Saturday evening.
