RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 25, 2024) Rawalpindi district police have arrested 625 members of 256 criminal gangs during raids in the district this year.

In the view of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the authorities concerned have been instructed to speed up the ongoing operations against criminals, Rawalpindi City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani said on Sunday.

He informed that strict measures were being taken in accordance with the law against organised and active gangs. He said that firm steps were also being taken to prevent robberies and robberies and all available resources were being used to arrest the criminals.

The performance of the SP CIA, the division SPs and the SHOs is reviewed daily, the CPO said. Poor performance by the officers is not tolerated.

He said that police officers have been directed to further improve performance to control crime in Rawalpindi. The campaign against drug dealers should also be intensified, he directed.

He reported that more than 1,700 major drug dealers have been arrested this year and that 25 tons of hashish, more than 30 kg of heroin, more than 4 kg of ice and more than 9,000 liters of alcohol have been found in their possession.

According to the CPO, the Rawalpindi police has a zero tolerance policy towards violence, abuse and intimidation of women and children.

An order has been issued to take immediate action against crimes against women and children and the officers have also been instructed to ensure that the suspects are arrested.
