Popular Jets icon pleads for help about ‘something going on’ at games

A New York Jets superfan is looking for answers when it comes to recent decisions made on game days at MetLife Stadium.

Firefighter Ed, whose real name is Edwin Anzalone, is known for his signature Jets fire helmet and the “JETS” chant during home games.

He took to Instagram on Tuesday and claimed that his screen time on the video boards at MetLife Stadium along with other fans has decreased.

“Jet nation, I hear you!” Anzalone captioned his post. “I hear you! This video covers feedback from Jets fans regarding the decrease in chants, defensive chants, and general ROCKING THE HOUSE on the big screens! Thoughts?? Go Jets (Airplane emoji).”

“I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but they’re phasing us out,” Anzalone said in the video, via the New York Post. “I’d like to know if anyone knows anything, please let me know because it’s obvious it’s happening. And it has to stop because we need home field advantage. That’s what we have and we have to keep it up. Something is going on, so if you know anything, let me know.”

Anzalone has been a fixture at Jets Games for decades. He renounced his fandom in 2012 after the Jets’ infamous fumble, but returned in 2015 to lead the cheers at MetLife Stadium.
