Powerball Results for 10/23/24; $478 million jackpot won

LANSING, MI – A lucky player from Georgia has won the Powerball jackpot, taking home a $478.2 million prize for the Wednesday, Oct. 23 drawing. That means the drawing on Saturday, October 26 will be worth $20 million.

The win marks the eighth time in 2024 that someone has won a Powerball jackpot and the first time since a California player won on August 19.

The winning numbers are: 2-15-27-29-39

Power Ball: 20

Power game: 2

Powerball winners for October 24:

  • Together with the grand prize winner, two tickets sold matched all five white numbers drawn, resulting in a $1 million prize in the drawing. Those tickets were sold in Pennsylvania and Texas.
  • However, none of these players also played the Power Play option, which would have increased their winnings to $2 million.
  • In Michigan, one ticket sold won $50,000 in the drawing. That was the largest prize won in the state.
  • 616,153 tickets sold won at least $4 in the drawing.

Powerball is offered in 45 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Players select five white numbers from (1 to 69) and one red ball (1 to 26). Tickets cost $2 each.

The latest Michigan players to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot are the Breakfast Club lottery club that claimed an $842 million jackpot in June 2024. The members plan to use the money to buy a house in Florida and travel.

And while they were the lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately, as a $1 million Mega Millions winner sold in Southfield in 2023 went unclaimed. The money instead went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
