Spain were not at their best against Denmark on Friday evening, but it was another professional performance from La Roja, as goals away Mikel Oyarzabal And Ayoze Perez handed them one 2-1 success in Copenhagen.

Saw the result Luis de la FuenteThe side move to 13 points from five games in Group 4 of League A, six points ahead of second-placed Denmark with just one game remaining, but they are still looking to finish on a positive note against Switzerland .

Spain have scored 10 times and conceded just twice in their five matches in the section, winning each of their last four matches after drawing their section opener to Serbia in early September.

La Roja are the reigning Nations League champions, having beaten Croatia in the 2022/2023 final, while they are also the European champions, having famously defeated England in the Euro 2024 final.

Spain have not lost a competitive match since March 2023, and the strength of their squad was on full display against Denmark; more players will now be hoping for opportunities to make their mark on Monday night as there is nothing substantial at stake for either side.

Switzerland never really got going in this section. They lost their first three games against Denmark, Spain and Serbia before drawing 2-2 at home to the former last month.

A-Team was back in action on Friday evening and drew 1-1 against Serbia Zeki Amdouni earlier on the scoresheet of the home team in Zurich Aleksa Terzic came up with a late equalizer.

Murat JakinThe Italy side have been relegated to League B, and they are without a win in all competitions since recording a 2-0 victory over Italy in the last 16 of the recent European Championship.

Switzerland has only beaten Spain twice, including a famous 1-0 win at the 2010 World Cup, while beating La Roja in the 2022-2023 UEFA Nations League season.

However, Spain were 4-1 winners as the pair tightened up the reverse fixture in this section, and there is no escaping the fact that Switzerland were under-par in the 2024/25 Nations League.

Team news

Spain has been released Martin Zubimendi, Alex Baena and Oyarzabal from their squad for this match, although the latter would have missed anyway through suspension.

Pablo Barrios has been given a call-up and the Atletico Madrid midfielder hopes to get the chance to make his debut.

Pau Cubarsi, Bryan Gil And Bryan Zaragoza were all left out of the squad against Denmark but will be available here, with head coach De la Fuente planning to make big changes.

Alvaro Morata could function as a centre-forward again Nico Williams He is also expected to feature in the side again.

Samu Omorodion has been in excellent form for Porto this season, scoring 12 times in 13 games, and the 20-year-old is likely to feature at some stage of the game as well.

As for Switzerland, head coach Yakin will make changes to the squad that took the field before the first whistle against Serbia Dereck Kutesa, Joel Monteiro And Andi Zeqiri He may end up in the XI.

While there’s nothing substantial on offer for either side on Monday, Switzerland will want to end a poor campaign on a positive note, so players like Granit Xhaka And Manuel Akanji should be on the side.

Breel Embolo is the squad’s leading goalscorer with fifteen goals, but the Monaco striker could be one of those to take a seat on the bench here as Yakin prepares to give some team members the chance to make their mark.

Possible starting line-up for Spain:
Raya; Mingueza, Vivian, Laporte, Grimaldo; Merino, Ruiz; N Williams, Olmo, Pino; Morata

Possible starting lineup for Switzerland:
Kobel; Fernandes, Comert, Akanji, Rodriguez; Xhaka, Freuler; Monteiro, Amdouni, Kutesa; Zeqiri

We say: Spain 2-0 Switzerland

Spain will be far from full strength on Monday, but their back-up players are also of high quality and we expect De la Fuente’s side to have too much for an out-of-form Switzerland in this Nations League match.
