A quick end to Major League Baseball’s two championship series would result in an earlier start to the World Series. MLB said Sunday that if both the American and National Leagues completed the championship rounds Saturday, the World Series would begin on Oct. 22, with a potential Game 7 to be played on Oct. 30. In order to move the World Series to an earlier date, both the best-of-seven ALCS and NLCS would have to end within five games. If either series lasts longer than five games, the World Series will begin on October 25, with Game 7, if necessary, played on November 2. The NLCS begins Sunday evening with the New York Mets at the Los Angeles Dodgers. The ALCS begins Monday evening with the Cleveland Guardians visiting the New York Yankees. The FOX networks will air the NLCS, with coverage of the ALCS on TBS. –Field-level media
