South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada finished with figures of 6-46 to beat Bangladesh for 307 on day four of the first Test in Mirpur on Thursday.

The tourists need 106 runs to win after Bangladesh conceded the last three wickets of their innings for just 24 runs inside half an hour.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored the highest score for the hosts with 97.

Resuming at 283-7, overnighter Nayeem Hasan departed lbw on the third ball of the day to a rampant Rabada.

An inswinger stayed low and hit the pad of Nayeem, helping him hit back without adding to his total of 16 on the night.

Wiaan Mulder took the wicket of Taijul Islam for seven in the fourth over. Taijul tried to take cover but only managed to get a thick edge to third slip.

All-rounder Mehidy fell three runs short of his second Test century in the next over when he hit Rabada straight to Mulder at slip.

South Africa scored 308 in their first innings, powered by Kyle Verreynne’s second Test century, in reply to Bangladesh’s 106 all out on the first day.

Bangladesh have never won a Test against South Africa.

The second and final match of the series starts on October 29 in Chattogram.
