MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -: Pack rain gear if you head out tonight as the area is wet. Totals appear to be a tenth to a quarter of an inch to the west and a quarter to a half inch to the east. Nice weather returns to end the week, before more active weather becomes more active late this weekend and early next week. Gusty winds and a major pattern change look more likely towards the middle and end of next week. Stay informed!

What’s coming…

A low pressure system moving northeast from Kansas will bring rain to southern Wisconsin this evening. It will take some time for rain to begin as drier air is present, but rain should reach the southern part of the state by late evening. Southeastern Wisconsin will likely see steady rainfall, with the heaviest amounts expected in the Southeast and less in the Northwest. The rain should clear by Thursday morning and dry weather will return as high pressure takes over.

Looking ahead…

High pressure will keep things dry through Saturday with mild temperatures in the low 50s, above normal for this time of year. There is a slight chance of rain late Sunday as a weather system arrives from Canada. The best chance of rain is Sunday evening, but it appears to be a minor event. Weather models show some uncertainty for next week, but more rain could fall on Tuesday or Wednesday. The exact time and amount of rain are still unclear, so we will have to keep an eye on it.
