Rashee Rice reportedly got some good news on Monday, a day before knee surgery

Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice will have surgery Tuesday to determine the extent of the knee injury he suffered eight days ago. He received good news via several messages on Monday.

Via NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Rice might have avoided a torn ACL. Still, he has to have an LCL repair performed.

As Rapoport characterizes it, the rice season is “is expected to be over.” Separately, Rapoport says Rice could miss “possibly three months” due to the LCL repair. That timeline wouldn’t end his season.

Rice’s diagnosis and prognosis occur with eight crimes looming. The previous aim was to delay the resolution of the charge, which stemmed from a street racing incident in March 2024, until after the season, with him accepting a possible ban in 2025. Now that he is sidelined due to an injury, it makes sense to resolve the charges and accept the suspension this year.

While he would still lose his game checks, he would not lose the opportunity to play more games than he will miss due to the injury.
