Ravens wear helmet decal in honor of Jacoby Jones and Joe D’Alessandris

The Ravens have unveiled a helmet decal they will wear this season in honor of two members of the organization who passed away this offseason.

The team will honor former wide receiver Jacoby Jones, who died in July, and former offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris, who died last month. The decal will appear on the back of the team’s helmets with the names Joe D. and Jacoby, along with Jones’ number 12.

“Hopefully those are helmet tags “Their work on the team’s roster, Jacoby Jones and Joe D’Alessandris, helps us all remember that it’s about the people,” head coach John Harbaugh said via the team’s website. “It’s about the people in your life that you share this time on earth with. Treat them well, cherish them, celebrate them, love them and think of them.”

Jones played three seasons with the Ravens and made one of the most famous plays in franchise history when he caught a pass 70 yards to send a playoff game with the Broncos into overtime in January 2013. The Ravens won, and Jones subsequently scored receiving and kickoff return touchdowns to help them win the Super Bowl.

D’Alessandris joined the Ravens in 2017 and has spent more than 40 years coaching on college and NFL teams.
