Ray Davis has run the Buffalo Bills offense better than any player since 2001

Buffalo Bills rookie running back Ray Davis had a great day against the New York Jets Monday night football. While starter James Cook was sidelined with a toe injury and Ty Johnson got the start, it was Davis who emerged as the big threat for the Bills.

Davis finished the game with career highs in rushing yards (97) and receiving yards (55), both numbers coincidentally leading the Bills that night. He is one of only four Bills freshmen to record 95 rushing yards and 55 receiving yards in the same game and the first since Travis Henry in 2001.

He is the first player to lead the Bills in receiving yards and rushing yards in the same game since Cook did it in 2023. The last Bills rookie to do this was in 1986 when Ronnie Harmon did it against the New England Patriots. However, Harmon’s stats weren’t as impressive: 39 yards on the ground and 36 yards through the air in a blowout Bills loss.

Johnson finished with just 4 carries for a robust 34 yards.
