Record heat forecast continues in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – It’s another First Alert Weather Day in the Valley with a high expected high of 110 degrees. That’s only slightly cooler than yesterday’s record-breaking 113 degrees, the last the Valley has ever seen a high of 110 degrees or higher.

Normal highs for Phoenix this time of year are in the upper 90s. Today’s predicted high temperature of 110 degrees would break a record. We will probably break records this weekend and next week as well.

Strong areas of high pressure remain over our region, currently centered over New Mexico. As it shifts toward Arizona on Friday and Saturday, temperatures are expected to climb even higher.

Expect a scorching weekend with morning temperatures in the 70s and 80s, rising to 112 degrees Friday, 113 degrees on Saturday and 110 degrees on Sunday. At this point, it doesn’t look like temperatures will drop early next week.

While the First Alert Weather Days will continue through Sunday, along with the Excessive Heat Warning, the warning is expected to be extended into next week.

Highs of 110 degrees are also expected next Monday and Tuesday. No rain is expected for the next seven days due to dry air in the southwest.
