Red flag warning issued for fire danger in Connecticut for Wednesday – NBC Connecticut

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for fire danger for all of Connecticut on Wednesday.

The warning applies from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m

Winds will increase on Wednesday, increasing the danger. According to the NWS, speeds of 10 to 25 km/h are expected, with gusts up to 30 km/h.

The dry condition will also continue, with a relative humidity of only 40%.

Any fire that occurs is likely to catch on and spread quickly.

The NWS says outdoor burning is not recommended.

The red flag warning comes as crews battle multiple wildfires in Connecticut. The largest is located on the Berlin-Meriden city line on the Lamentation mountain. That fire broke out Monday evening and quickly spread up the mountain. According to fire officials, the flames had consumed 80 to 90 hectares by Tuesday afternoon.
