Residents of the village of Brock were advised to evacuate after a grass fire was reported in the county

NEMAHA COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) – Residents of the Village of Brock have been advised to evacuate after a large grass fire was reported in Nemaha County Tuesday afternoon.

According to News Channel Nebraska, the fire started near Highway 136, east of Johnson. Firefighters were dispatched to 632 Avenue and 730 Road before 1:50 p.m

The fire was driven three miles to the boundary of Clifton cemetery, about five miles from Brock.

Firefighters from Johnson, Auburn, Talmage and Tecumseh were aided by multiple private tractors and drives and commercial tankers from Frontier Cooperative, NCN reported.

The Auburn Wellness Center near 6th and J streets has been designated as a shelter for those who have been evacuated.

The center said an incident management team, meeting at the emergency management office, is working to determine what kind of supplies they need.

“Once that team has an idea of the number of people who need help, they will know more about what supplies might be able to be donated. Please monitor the Wellness Center Facebook page for further updates and/or supplies needs. Thank you! Small towns are AWESOME!”
