Rhamondre Stevenson injury update: Patriots receive positive news

The New England Patriots offense will have one of its starting members available on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson is expected to make his comeback after a foot injury, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Stevenson entered the weekend listed as questionable on the injury report. However, the Patriots opted not to promote a running back from their practice squad for their upcoming game in London – a decision that could be seen as a positive sign when it comes to the 26-year-old’s availability.

Earlier this week, Stevenson himself provided a positive update on his injury status and possible return on Sunday.

“I’m doing well at the moment,” he told reporters in London. “I had to take a few days off, but I feel like I should be ready to play on Sunday.”

Stevenson, a fourth-round draft pick of the Patriots in 2021, was signed to a four-year, $36 million contract extension this offseason. Despite the team showing confidence in him, the early parts of his 2024 season were challenging.

Before Stevenson suffered the aforementioned foot injury in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins, he had fumbled the ball in each of the first four games of the season. Although he was productive as a runner, his ball security issues led to him losing his starting spot to Antonio Gibson for that particular game.

How big of a role Stevenson will play upon his return remains to be seen. He enters Week 7 as New England’s leader in touches (90), scrimmage yards (393) and touchdowns (3).

The Patriots’ game against the Jaguars at Wembley Stadium starts at 9:30 AM ET or 2:30 PM local time.
