“But I think we prepared ourselves for this fight. I think we’ve eliminated some of the things that happened in the last fight, and we’re going for it.”

Despite his defeat last time out and the changes in his training camp, Despaigne said his approach to fights will remain the same. Simply put, he wants to put out his opponent’s lights, and quickly.

“As soon as I walked in, I came with this hype. So it just happened. I think it’s because of the style I have,” he said of his reputation.

“So when I get into a fight, I look for victory. That’s what I want to do. I don’t think about the crowd – that’s just what I am, right? That’s my fighting style. So that’s who I am.”

And that said, his response when asked to give us a prediction came as no surprise.

“First lap finish.”
