Rodrigo Goulão de Sousa’s short film ‘Uncanny Alley’ finds horror in the mundane moments of everyday life

The creepy short film Strange alley comes online via Adult Swim’s Little ones shorts program. Make sure you have a light on before diving in.

Without giving too much away, let’s just say this: there’s a terrifying-looking humanoid creature lurking behind a woman in an empty movie theater, there are worm-like creatures bubbling to the surface, there are deformed, bloody bodies, there are floating body structures, there are bugs sitting next to the bed, and there’s a frog on a tricycle.

If Charles Burns and David Lynch were to be put together, they would emerge as animator Rodrigo Goulão de Sousa, whose short urban horror film combines three stories: “The Screening,” “The Night Shift,” and “The Roommate.” Like Burns and Lynch, de Sousa finds his horror in the everyday and in the seemingly mundane moments of life: a movie theater, a swimming pool, an apartment.
