Ronda Rousey apologizes: Former UFC champion apologizes for sharing Sandy Hook conspiracy theory

Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey has apologized for sharing a conspiracy video about the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Eleven years ago, then-UFC champion Rousey posted a YouTube video on Twitter questioning what had happened.

Twenty students and six staff members were killed in the shooting on December 14, 2012.

During a recent AMA (ask me anything) on the social media site Reddit, Rousey, 37, was inundated with questions about her past comments.

In a statement posted to X Friday morning, Rousey said it was “the most regrettable decision” of her life and that she planned to apologize in her recent memoir before her publishers asked her to take it down.

“Honestly, I deserve to be hated, labeled, despised, misunderstood and worse,” Rousey said.

“I deserve to miss every opportunity, I should have been canceled, I deserved it. I still do.

“I apologize that this came 11 years too late, but to those affected by the Sandy Hook massacre, I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart and soul for the pain I have caused.

“I cannot even imagine the pain you have been through and words cannot describe how remorseful and ashamed I am that I contributed to this.”

Rousey released the second volume of her memoir ‘Our Fight’ earlier this year and is currently promoting her first graphic novel.

The former WWE star is the most followed female athlete on Instagram with 17.5 million followers.

Rousey added: “I’ve regretted it every day since then and I will until the day I die.

“It doesn’t make you sharp or an independent thinker, you don’t do your best by considering all the possibilities by processing these conspiracies.

“They only make you feel powerless, scared, miserable and isolated. You do nothing but hurt others and yourself.

“No matter how many bridges you burn, stop digging yourself deeper, don’t get caught in the sunk cost fallacy. No matter how long you’ve been on the wrong path, you still have to come back.”
