Rosen Calls on Biden Administration to Be Ready to Provide Aid to Davis Fire

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen is calling on the Biden administration to be ready to provide relief to victims of the Davis Fire.

The Davis Fire is still raging Tuesday afternoon, destroying 22,000 acres and 14 buildings.

“This past weekend, an aggressive wildfire broke out in Northern Nevada, starting near Davis Creek Regional Park and spreading through the Washoe Valley and part of the southern Reno area,” wrote Senator Rosen. “As this fire continues to threaten lives, homes, businesses and livelihoods, I ask you and your administration to stand ready to provide all federal resources needed to fight this fire, help communities recover and help this region rebuild stronger.”

“In Fiscal Year 2024 alone, Congress appropriated more than $4 billion for wildfire mitigation and management at the Department of the Interior (DOI) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which I was proud to help author and sign into law, included $5 billion for wildfire mitigation and management over five years for the U.S. Forest Service and DOI,” she continued. “As Nevadans face this latest wave of wildfires, I urge your administration to continue to allocate these funds in a way that allows communities like those in Northern Nevada, who need them most, to access them and use them for critical wildfire management and recovery activities.”
