Ryan Walters invites students to pray after announcing Bible purchase for AP Gov. classes

Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters spoke directly to students in a new video praying for President-elect Trump.

Walters announced Thursday that 500 Bibles have been purchased for Oklahoma AP government classes.

This all comes just days after Walters launched the Office of Religious Freedom and Patriotism.

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Education, Walters follows President-elect Trump’s educational principles for his new term, including the freedom to pray.

In one of the videos about Walters’ release, he invited students to pray with him.

He then prayed for President-elect Trump and his team, citing “bringing change to the country.”

Walters also prayed that teachers, students, parents and schools would instill a love of country and that students would understand what makes America great.

According to a report from State Impact, Walters sent a letter to districts instructing supervisors to send the video to the parents of all students.

He also posted a video on social media announcing the purchase of 500 Bibles for AP government offices.

In the video, Walters holds up a Bible similar to the one President-elect Trump was holding when he announced he would start selling Bibles online.

In the video, Walter says the Bibles include documents such as the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, which are also similar to the Bible Trump is selling.

Earlier this year, Walters announced a mandate to have a Bible in every classroom, but that is currently being challenged in court by parents and religious groups.

The department also recently canceled a bidding process for Bible sellers because OSDE planned to purchase 55,000 Bibles for $3 million.

However, Walters said he is still investigating the matter.
