SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested the person responsible for making online threats against seven local schools.

According to the SAPD, a 12-year-old boy was arrested and charged with seven counts of terroristic threats.

Police want to remind parents to monitor their children’s social media activity. The SAPD says they take all threats seriously and will make arrests if laws are broken.

Parents and families at SAISD received a report Sunday afternoon about an unbelievable threat circulating on social media.

According to the SAISD statement, it was not considered credible by the police investigation.

SAISD released a statement saying: “We are aware of online activity circulating between schools in local school districts, including SAISD, that has raised concerns. Our SAISD Police Department has investigated this activity in coordination with local law enforcement, including SAPD, and at this time it has been determined that it does not pose a credible threat. We have received tips about today’s activity through our P3 system and we appreciate the reporting. If at any time you see or hear suspicious activity, please report it to our officers through the P3 Anonymous Reporting system; look for the button on the district’s web page or the banner on each campus’ web page. We will send an update to all families this evening. As a precaution, we are increasing our police presence around our campuses this week to ensure everyone’s safety. We are and will always be vigilant in protecting everyone in our care. Again, the post is not credible.”

The San Antonio Police Department confirmed their efforts in the investigation: “SAPD has received multiple reports of a social media post threatening violence at several area schools. The SAPD Southwest Texas Fusion Center is working to locate and identify the individual who created and posted the post. We are also working with the schools to ensure the safety of the school and the public.”

Schools will remain open on Mondays.
