Saquon Barkley left the Giants as a free agent. Daniel Jones leaves the Giants on the waiver wire.

However, Barkley hopes things will work out as well for the quarterback as they did for him when he signed with the Eagles. The running back ranks second in the NFL with 1,137 rushing yards, making him eligible for Offensive Player of the Year honors.

“I have been in contact with him. Us friendship has remained strong throughout the entire process that I was here,” Barkley said via video from ESPN’s Tim McManus. “It sucks to see how everything turned out for him there. I have nothing but good things to say about him. You won’t really find anyone who can say negative things about him.

“It’s the NFL. Hopefully, wherever he ends up, they’ll find someone to come along and work. It didn’t work for me there, and it’s going well for me here. Hopefully he can find the same new start and success.”

The Giants announced this on Friday they waive Jones, but the move has not yet been processed.

Because of his contract, Jones is expected to clear waivers and become a free agent.
