NEW YORK – Three new comedians are joining the cast of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” this fall.

Rising comedians Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline will join as leads, the network announced Tuesday. The new season of “SNL” is expected to premiere on Sept. 28.

Chloe Troast, who joined “SNL” last year, announced in an Instagram post that she will not be returning to the show.

“Unfortunately, I was not asked back to ‘SNL’ this season,” the 27-year-old wrote. “I wish I could go back and be with all the amazing friends I made there, it really felt like home. But that wasn’t going to happen.”

Padilla, like other “SNL” alumni including Will Ferrell and Maya Rudolph, previously performed at the Groundlings, an improv and sketch comedy theater in Los Angeles. She also appeared on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and in the NBC revival of “Night Court.”

Wakim, a Lebanese-American comedian, made his late-night comedian debut in 2022 when he appeared on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” That year, he was named the New Face of Comedy at the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal.

Wickline has nearly a million followers on TikTok and performs in a live comedy show on the social media platform called “Stapleview.”

With these new additions, Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker are promoted to the main cast after two years as leads.

Punkie Johnson, who was hired in 2020, and Molly Kearney, a Cleveland native who will become the show’s first non-binary cast member in 2022, are also leaving the show.

“Y’all, that’s the end of my time on SNL!” Kearney posted on Instagram. “When I think back on the amazing 2 seasons I had on this show, it was a dream come true. I am so incredibly grateful for this time in my life.

“So much love to all my generous friends behind the scenes who make the magic happen every week.”

“Saturday Night Live” returns to NBC on September 28.
