Savannah Bananas world tour comes to Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – West Michigan baseball fans will soon find out why the world has gone banana ball crazy.

The West Michigan Whitecaps announced on Friday, Oct. 4, that the Banana Ball World Tour plans to make a stop at LMCU Ballpark next summer.

The Party Animals of Savannah Bananas will play the Firefighters during three wild nights of Banana Ball on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 12-14, 2025. The ballpark is located at 4500 W. River Dr. NE in Comstock Park, a Suburb of Grand Rapids.

“Banana Ball has taken the baseball world by storm, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring their unique brand of baseball to the state of Michigan for the first time,” Steve McCarthy, president of the West Michigan Whitecaps, said in a statement. . “We expect a great response and I know this group is ready to give fans an incredible experience.

Banana Ball started a little over five years ago as a concept for a fast-paced, action-packed version of traditional baseball that keeps fans engaged throughout. The game consists of 11 unique rules, such as a two-hour time limit for games, no walks and foul balls caught by fans counting as outs.

The most recently adopted rule, ‘golden batter’, gives each team one chance to field a batter from anywhere in the lineup.

The Banana Ball World Tour initially started with just one team, the Savannah Bananas, and has since expanded to multiple member teams.

Due to the popularity of the sport, tickets are expected to sell out quickly. People interested in attending can sign up for the lottery list at banaball.com before it closes on November 1.

Participation in the lottery does not guarantee the opportunity to purchase tickets. Names will be drawn at random approximately two months before the event, giving you the opportunity to then purchase tickets online.

Once the lottery closes, fans will be placed on the ticket waiting list and notified when tickets become available.

All lawn, reserved, box and premium box seating is sold by Banana Ball as general admission tickets. Suites, 4-topps and hospitality spaces are sold through the Whitecaps and will be available as part of the annual group lottery held on November 21.

“We fully expect these games to sell out within hours of the start of ticket sales,” Dan Morrison, vice president of sales and marketing for the West Michigan Whitecaps, said in a news release. “In other markets there are regularly more than 100,000 people on waiting lists and tickets sell out within 24 hours.

“Knowing the fan base we have in West Michigan, I have no doubt we will see the same thing.”
