Scattered showers, dropping temperatures along the way

Pack the rain gear for now, but have the winter gear ready for later this week.

First some rain this morning, then tomorrow afternoon, later this week colder and windy with snow showers.

  • TUESDAY: Scattered morning/afternoon rain, mostly cloudy, breezy, high 63.
  • THIS EVENING: Some of the clouds disappear above the ground and patchy fog forms on the surface, layer 49.
  • WEDNESDAY: AM fog, cloudy, scattered afternoon/evening rain, windy, high 58 afternoon, then temperatures drop.
  • THURSDAY: Cloudy, light snow and wintry mix showers, windy, high 39.
  • FRIDAY: Cloudy, wintry mix and showers, windy, high 43.
  • SATURDAY: Cloudy, small chance of some early rain showers, high 46.
  • SUNDAY: Partly cloudy, high 50.
  • MONDAY: Cloudy, chance of PM rain, high 58.

Showers are likely this morning with a shower coming from Indiana. This rain will move east here during the morning hours and by the afternoon of today the chance of rain for the second half of the day will be much lower. Our morning temperatures will be in the 50s and we will hold steady in the 50s with the rain, then try to warm into the lower 60s this afternoon with brisk winds from the south at 6-15 mph.

The clouds will break a little later today and the more the clouds break, the more fog will form at night. Tonight the wind will decrease and temperatures will drop towards 40 degrees.

Wednesday starts dry, but a strong cold front will blow through in the afternoon. We will try to warm up to a high of 58 degrees around noon, at which point temperatures will begin to drop. The best chance of rain is Wednesday afternoon/afternoon and ends early in the evening. The wind is from the west, 10-30 km/h with some gusts up to 30 km/h.

Temperatures will continue to drop Wednesday night and by Thursday we will wake up to temperatures in the low 30s and will remain steady around 30 degrees all day Thursday. Strong winds from the west/northwest ensure that our perceived temperature remains around 20 degrees all day. On Thursday we will have periods of light snow showers, occasionally mixed with some rain. Because the ground is warm and our surface temperatures are just above freezing, the snow may fall and stick for a while, but it will melt slowly.

Right now, snowfall totals look to be between a trace and an inch of snow by Thursday evening and Friday morning. If you happen to have a few moderate snow showers, you may get a little more accumulation and the snow will stick around longer before it melts. Snow sticks longer on raised surfaces such as grass, mulch, bridges and overpasses.

The snow and wintry mix showers will continue Thursday night through Friday morning. The temperature on Friday morning is around 30 degrees. We will see a few light showers and we will warm up to around 43 degrees due to the high temperature, so the early wintry mix will change to mostly rain by the afternoon. On Friday the wind will continue to blow from the west/northwest at 25-25+ km per hour.

The wind will start to lighten a bit on Saturday morning, with a small chance of an early persistent rain shower. We’ll start the day cloudy with morning lows in the upper 30s, then a high around 46 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. Some breaks in cloud on Sunday with a low around 35 in the morning, then a high around 50 with light winds. Another rain shower will arrive later on Monday with a high around 58 before the rain.
