The charges against Combs have not been made public, and Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, told multiple news outlets that the arrest was based on a “sealed indictment filed by the SDNY.”

Williams added that his office expects to release the charges Tuesday morning and “will have more to say at that time.”

In a statement shared with multiple news outlets, Combs’ attorney expressed disappointment over the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s decision to proceed with what they called an “unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs,” describing him as a “music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist.”

The statement said Combs “has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation” and “voluntarily relocated to New York last week” in anticipation of the charges.
