Sean Kingston and mother run from courtroom, dodging reporters after pleading not guilty to federal charges (VIDEO)

Sean Kingston appeared in a federal court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Friday, along with his mother, Janice Turnerto face serious fraud charges. The singer and his mother formally pleaded not guilty to charges of running a $1 million wire fraud scheme that federal prosecutors say included false representations about payments for luxury items.

Following their plea, the duo wasted no time in leaving, with Kingston sprinting out of the courthouse and jumping into a black Cadillac Escalade. Meanwhile, Turner, who was previously convicted of bank fraud, made a scene by throwing a birdie at ABC Local 10 reporters before escaping in a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sedan, the outlet reported.

The charges stem from an indictment handed down by a federal grand jury in Miami, accusing Kingston and Turner of using false wire transfers to unlawfully acquire high-value goods, including vehicles and jewelry. The indictment alleges that they “unlawfully enriched themselves” through the fraudulent activity.

Both Kingston and his mother were arrested on May 23. Kingston was picked up while performing at the Fort Irwin National Training Center in California, and Turner was arrested during a raid on the singer’s Southwest Ranches home.

In addition to the federal charges, Kingston and Turner also face a state case in Broward County. They are accused of conducting an organized scheme to defraud, grand larceny and identity theft, following investigations by the U.S. Secret Service and the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
