Jeremy Swayman, who struggled early in the season after signing an eight-year, $66 million contract, has found his form again, blocking 27 shots to Joey Daccord’s 15. Two key factors led to the Kraken’s shutout: brutal penalty killing and the Bruins’ overwhelming lead. firepower.

The Bruins struck first with a goal from Justin Brazeau, launching shot after shot at Daccord. When Brandon Montour checked David Pastrnak, Charlie Coyle took advantage of the power play and doubled Boston’s lead.

Seattle got a break when the officials overturned Pavel Zacha’s goal after a challenge from Head Coach Dan Bylsma. Still, the Kraken continued to stumble, with Jordan Eberle hooking Brazeau and Ryker Evans pinning Andrew Peeke. With just 3:27 left, Seattle finally registered its first shot on goal. The Bruins, ranked 19th in penalty kills, shut down the Kraken’s chances when Peeke was called for tripping Matty Beniers. The period ended on a somber note, with Seattle managing just four shots, compared to Boston’s fifteen.

Nothing improved for Seattle in the second period. The Kraken continued to struggle with urgency, managing just eight shots on goal to Boston’s 30. Seattle had more penalties, first with Adam Larsson for interference against Parker Wotherspoon and Oliver Bjorkstrand for high-stick against Matthew Poitras. The Bruins showed off another effective penalty, shutting down the Kraken’s power play opportunity after Mark Kastelic was called for high-sticking against Brandon Montour.

Tempers flared in the third period after Adam Larsson’s goal on Trent Frederic, which led to penalties for both players: Frederic was given a five-minute major for unsportsmanlike conduct, while Larsson was given two minutes for fighting. Despite the power play, the Kraken couldn’t find the net as frustration boiled over between Brandon Montour and former Kraken Morgan Geekie, who traded punches near Seattle’s goal.

Joey Daccord was named the third star of the game as he fended off the Bruins’ constant pressure. The first and second stars went to Swayman and Coyle from Boston.

The Kraken wrap up this leg of their road trip with a stop in Colorado Tuesday night to take on the Avalanche. The Puck Drop is scheduled for 6:00 PM PST.
