TreeHouse Foods issued a voluntary recall last Friday for its frozen waffle products sold at many retailers in the U.S. and Canada because the products have been linked to possible listeria contamination.

TreeHouse Foods told USA TODAY that the problem was found at one of their production facilities.

“This issue was discovered during routine testing at our manufacturing facility in Brantford, Ontario, Canada,” Howard Karesh, a spokesperson for TreeHouse Foods, said in a statement. “There have been no confirmed reports of illnesses or injuries associated with the recalled products.”

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in its recall warning that listeria monocytogenes “is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.”
