Setting the stage: Badgers host Buckeyes

MADISON, Wis. — The Badgers return to the UW Field House for a midweek matchup with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The game starts at 7:30 PM and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

Before the match starts, here are six things you need to know:

1. LAST TIMEOUT: The Badgers split this past week, going 1-1 with a gritty five-set victory over No. 16 Minnesota, followed by a No. 2 Nebraska sweep. Wisconsin split the series with the Gophers this season, while Nebraska finished with a 2-0 series sweep over UW. Nebraska took all six sets from the Badgers, marking the first time since 2012 that Nebraska won both matches.

2. VOLLEYBALL PRO FEDERATION DRAFT: In the Pro Volleyball Federation’s second annual draft, seniors Devyn Robinson and CC Crawfrod were called up on Monday. Robinson was selected in the first round, fifth overall by the San Diego Mojo, while Crawford was drafted in the second round, 16th overall by the Indy Ignite.

3. D STEPS UP: Of Lola Schumacher And Gulce Guctekin still out with injuries, Saige Damrow got her third consecutive start at libero in Nebraska. Email Chan And Carly Anderson also stepped into the DS position at Nebraska. The three of them have done sixteen excavations.

4. HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS:
Over the past five years, the Badgers are 76-8 at the UW Field House and 13-1 during the NCAA First, Second, Regional and Regional Finals. The loss to Nebraska this season marked the first time the Badgers have dropped a match on their home court since the five-set loss to Pitt in the 2022 regional final.

5. 20+ MARKS: With wins over No. 23 USC and UCLA improving to 20-5, 14-2 overall, the Badgers reached 20 wins on the season. This marks the 35th time in program history that the Badgers have recorded more than 20 wins in a season. Head coach Kelly Sheffield has over 20 wins in each of his seasons here in Wisconsin (14).

6. SCOUTING THE BUCKEYES: Ohio State is at .500 this season, with a 14-14 overall record and a 7-11 record in the Big Ten. Wisconsin leads the history between the two teams, 45-39. The Badgers haven’t dropped a game to the Buckeyes since the 2019 season. Outside hitter Emily Londot ranks second in the Big Ten and 21st in the NCAA in kills per set with 4.44 and libero Olivia Hasbrook ranks fifth in the Big Ten with 3.76 digs per set. The Buckeyes are coming off a 3-2 win over Indiana on Sunday night.
