Several roads around Dove Creek are impassable due to flooding

DOVE CREEK, TX – According to the Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department, numerous roads near Dove Creek have been deemed impassable due to high water as of 10 p.m.

Roads affected include Lagoon, Dove Creek Lane East, Pecan Lane, Twin Lakes Lane and the low water crossing. Authorities are urging motorists to avoid these areas and not drive through high water.

The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of west-central Texas, including southeastern Tom Green County, north-central Schleicher County and west-central Concho County. The warning remains in effect until 12:30 PM CST on Friday.

At 11:37 PM, a severe thunderstorm was detected near Christoval, moving northeast at 20 miles per hour. The storm poses a threat of 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, with radar showing possible damage to vehicles, roofs, siding and trees.

Residents in affected areas, including Concho, Schleicher and Tom Green counties, are advised to seek shelter indoors, preferably in an interior room on the lowest floor of their building, to protect themselves from potential wind and hail damage.

Additionally, a Flash Flood Warning is in effect for the San Angelo area, valid until 3:15 a.m. CST.
