Several schools were closed on Wednesday due to a planned power outage

Four school sites in the Carson City School District and one Washoe County School District School will be closed Wednesday due to a planned power outage.

NV Energy imposed a planned power outage on four school sites in Carson City on November 20 due to high winds and increased fire risk.

Carson City School District officials say school will be closed and classes will be canceled all day at Bordewich Bray Elementary, Carson Middle, the District Office and Student Support Services.

All employees and students who report to these specific school sites must stay at home. Only these schools will not have student activities, after-school programs or practices.

All other school sites will have power and the school day will remain unchanged.

Pleasant Valley Elementary School in the Washoe County School District is closed. The following message has been sent to the families:

Good morning, families of Pleasant Valley Elementary School,

This is an important message from the Washoe County School District for Wednesday, November 20th. We have received notice from NV Energy that public safety outage management has taken place. Due to no power on our school campus, school for today, Wednesday, November 20, is canceled.

Together with NV Energie, we will continue to monitor this situation closely.

Once again, all classes and events at Pleasant Valley Elementary school are canceled today, Wednesday, November 20, and there will be no before or after school activities.
